TBD Post collaborates on Apple TV+ latest whale documentary “Fathom”
TBD Post is excited to announce our sound mixing involvement with a stunning new documentary coming to Apple TV+ this summer. “Fathom” is a a documentary that follows two scientists as they travel the sea to communicate with humpback whales and decode the reason behind their harmonizing singing.
Mixed in Dolby Atmos by re-recording mixer and sound supervisor Brad Engleking in TBD Post's Theater 1, “Fathom” fully utilizes the best aspects of the Atmos format, immersing the viewer in the language of humpback whales and the lives of the scientists studying them. Dolby Atmos technology allows the audience to hear sounds from where the filmmakers intended them to arrive from.
The benefit of using Dolby Atmos in a theater or home theater is its sheer versatility. Dolby Atmos maxes out its use on 34 speakers, however those speakers can be configured in any placement, making the customization of sound location almost infinite.Following the lives and voices of these humpack whales will be a beautiful and immersive way to showcase TBD Post’s Dolby Atmos sound mixing, and we’re excited for you to be apart of the experience.
The film will make its theatrical premiere at #Tribeca2021, before its global release on June 25th via AppleTV Plus.
